Consider becoming a part of a rewarding experience that AHS has to offer. Don't think you have the time?
- What about one evening a week, for a couple of hours, you could help care for the cats that are available for adoption at PetsMart!
- Are you available on Saturdays or some Sundays, you could hold the leash of a dog who is waiting for his/her forever parents to adopt them!
- Do you like to write or have computer skills, you could help us compose newsletters to inform the public of pet health, concerns and upcoming events!
- Maybe you have time and the type of home environment that could help nurture either a cat or dog and would like to foster, we would love to hear from you! We can only save those that we have room for. We currently do not have enough dog fosters, and are therefore unable to take in any more dogs. We are also in need of more cat fosters.
- Would you want to take part in naming, getting updates and even pictures on the pet of your choice, that is available for adoption. You could become a sponsor! For only $60.00 you could be that pet's "Guardian Angel" until their forever family adopts them!
Whatever time you have, you could make a difference! If it's crossed your mind, then take the next step. You'll be glad you did!

- You can help by donating garage sale items for the Acadiana Humane Society annual garage sale.
- You can donate items of value that can be auctioned off as fundraisers on eBay.

Who We Are
The Acadiana Humane Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers who seek to find good homes for cats and dogs. All of our animals live in foster homes until a good furrever home can be found.
Adopting a friend
The pets available for adoption can be seen at Petsmart (at the corner of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Johnston Street). All animals are spayed or neutered, are current on all required shots, dewormed, microchipped, and tested. Cats are tested for FIV/FeLV, and dogs are tested for heartworms.
The adoption fee for cats is $95.00 payable by cash or check. Purebred cats are a $150.00 adoption fee. Dog adoptions are $100.00. Purebred dog adoptions are $155.00. The adoption fee for unaltered guinea pigs is $25.00. Neutered guinea pig adoptions are $70.00.
